Alexandria Tour

Alexandria is the largest Egyptian city along the Mediterranean Sea. Second only to Cairo in population, Alexandria is rich in history and culture and located right on the Nile delta - the only city with access to both the Nile river and the Mediterranean. The climate is beautiful seacoast weather especially in the summer when the rest of Egypt is still very hot.

Alexandria is a tourist destination in itself and it is also the the gateway to the north coast. Alexandria was founded by Alexander the great and it still has traces of the Greek and Roman and Napoleonic influences from the past.

Alexandria is also home to the largest library in Egypt, available for viewing with uncounted numbers of historical treasures, as well as artifacts and pottery.

Pompey's Pillar is a Roman triumphal column, one of the best-known ancient monuments still standing in Alexandria today. Located on Alexandria's ancient acropolis, the pillar is made of granite and red granite. Beneath the acropolis itself are the subterranean remains of the Serapeum linked to historical beliefs now forgotten. Nearby are the Alexandrian catacombs,  Kom El Shoqafa and Kom El Deka.

The Temple of Taposiris Magna was built in the Ptolemy era and dedicated to Osiris. It is located in Abusir, the western suburb of Alexandria in Borg el Arab city, but only the ruins remain. The temple was used as a christian church in later centuries. Also found in the same area are a historic tower, seawall and bridge.

Alexandria is also the location of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world along the moderate Mediterranean Sea.
